전도서 5–8장은

하나님 앞에서의 경외,

말의 절제,

재물의 헛됨,

삶의 한계,

죽음 앞의 지혜,

그리고 하나님의 일을 다 헤아릴 수 없는 인간의 한계를 가르칩니다.

5장은 하나님의 집에 나아갈 때

말을 조심하고,

헛된 서원을 하지 말며,

하나님을 경외하라고 가르칩니다.

또한 재물을 사랑하는 사람은 재물로 만족하지 못한다고 말합니다.

6장은 사람이 많은 것을 가져도

하나님이 누리게 하지 않으시면

그 모든 것이 헛될 수 있음을 보여 줍니다.

7장은 지혜가 슬픔과 죽음 앞에서도 사람을 깨우며,

좋은 이름과 인내와 마음의 겸손을 가르친다고 말합니다.

8장은 권세와 악인의 형통,

인간 판단의 한계,

하나님의 일을 다 깨닫지 못하는 인간의 한계를 다룹니다.

사람은 모든 것을 다 알 수 없지만,

하나님 앞에서 경외함으로 살아야 합니다.

Ecclesiastes 5–8 teaches

reverence before God,

restraint in speech,

the vanity of wealth,

the limits of life,

wisdom before death,

and the human inability

to fully grasp the work of God.

Chapter 5 teaches us

to guard our words

when we come before God,

not to make empty vows,

and to fear God.

It also says that the one who loves money

will not be satisfied with money.

Chapter 6 shows

that even if a person possesses many things,

all may still be vanity

if God does not give the ability to enjoy them.

Chapter 7 teaches

that wisdom awakens people

even before sorrow and death,

and it values a good name,

patience,

and humility of heart.

Chapter 8 deals with authority,

the prosperity of the wicked,

the limits of human judgment,

and the inability of human beings

to fully understand God’s work.

A person cannot know everything,

but must live in reverence before God.
