I. 전쟁이 아니라 구조를 보라

2026년 9월의 중동은 하나의 전쟁으로 설명하기 어렵다.

가자, 레바논, 시리아, 이란, 예멘, 홍해와 호르무즈 해협은 서로 떨어진 사건처럼 보이지만 정치·군사·에너지·해상교통이라는 구조 안에서 서로 연결되어 있다.

따라서 오늘의 질문은 단순히 “어디에서 전쟁이 벌어지고 있는가?”가 아니다.

“각 전선은 어떻게 서로 연결되어 있는가?”를 물어야 한다.

II. 가자 — 지역질서 전체로 확장된 전쟁

가자는 여전히 중동 위기의 중요한 중심이다.

그러나 이제 가자만 바라보아서는 전체 구조를 설명할 수 없다.

이스라엘의 안보, 팔레스타인의 미래, 미국의 중동정책, 이란과 그 연계세력의 전략이 서로 맞물리면서 가자의 충돌은 중동 전체의 세력질서와 연결되고 있다.

III. 레바논과 시리아 — 북쪽으로 이어지는 전선

이스라엘 북쪽에는 레바논과 시리아가 있다.

레바논의 헤즈볼라는 이란과 긴밀하게 연결되어 있으며, 시리아는 오랫동안 이란·이스라엘·튀르키예와 주변 강대국들의 이해관계가 교차하는 전략적 통로였다.

가자에서 북쪽으로 전선을 따라가면 레바논과 시리아를 지나 결국 이란이라는 더 큰 전략적 중심과 만나게 된다.

IV. 이란과 호르무즈 — 세계 에너지의 목

이란 문제는 중동 내부에만 머물지 않는다.

호르무즈 해협은 페르시아만과 세계 해양을 연결하는 핵심 통로다.

이곳에서 긴장이 높아지면 원유와 LNG 수송, 해운, 보험료와 국제 에너지 가격까지 영향을 받을 수 있다.

중동의 군사충돌이 세계경제의 문제로 빠르게 확대될 수 있는 이유가 여기에 있다.

V. 예멘과 홍해 — 또 하나의 전략적 목

남쪽에는 예멘과 바브엘만데브 해협이 있다.

바브엘만데브는 아덴만과 홍해를 연결하고, 그 북쪽에는 수에즈 운하가 자리한다.

따라서 호르무즈와 바브엘만데브는 세계 해상교통의 핵심 관문이다.

중동은 단순히 석유가 있는 지역이 아니다.

아시아·아프리카·유럽을 연결하는 세계의 길목이다.

VI. 하나의 지도에서 보라

가자 → 레바논 → 시리아 → 이란 → 호르무즈

그리고

예멘 → 바브엘만데브 → 홍해 → 수에즈

이 두 흐름을 하나의 지도 위에 놓으면 오늘의 중동 구조가 선명해진다.

전쟁의 이름은 여러 개지만 정치, 군사, 에너지, 해상교통과 국제질서는 하나의 연결망 안에서 움직이고 있다.

VII. Bible365Mission의 시선

성경을 읽는다는 것은 모든 국제정세를 성경 예언에 단순히 끼워 맞추는 일이 아니다.

시대를 분별하되 전쟁을 소비하지 않고,

특정 국가나 민족을 우상화하지 않으며,

고통받는 사람을 바라보고,

평화를 이루는 길을 묻는 것이다.

성경의 땅에서 벌어지는 사건일수록 더욱 신중하게 바라보아야 한다.

뉴스를 넘어 구조를 보고,

구조를 넘어 인간을 보고,

인간을 넘어 하나님의 말씀 앞에서 우리 자신을 돌아본다.

중동은 여러 개의 전쟁이 벌어지는 공간이 아니다.

점점 하나의 연결된 전선이 되어가고 있다.

그리고 그 구조 속에서 교회가 물어야 할 질문은 이것이다.

“우리는 이 시대에 어떻게 평화를 이루는 사람으로 살아갈 것인가?”

I. Look Beyond the Wars to the Structure

The Middle East of September 2026 cannot be explained by a single war.

Gaza, Lebanon, Syria, Iran, Yemen, the Red Sea, and the Strait of Hormuz may appear to be separate crises, but they are increasingly connected through politics, military power, energy, and maritime routes.

The key question is therefore not simply, “Where is war taking place?”

We must ask, “How are these fronts connected?”

II. Gaza — A War Expanding into a Regional Question

Gaza remains one of the central points of the Middle East crisis.

Yet Gaza alone can no longer explain the wider structure.

Israel’s security, the future of the Palestinians, U.S. Middle East policy, and the strategies of Iran and its aligned forces are increasingly intertwined.

The conflict in Gaza has therefore become part of a broader struggle over regional order.

III. Lebanon and Syria — The Front Extends Northward

To Israel’s north lie Lebanon and Syria.

Hezbollah in Lebanon is closely connected with Iran, while Syria has long served as a strategic corridor where the interests of Iran, Israel, Türkiye, and other powers intersect.

Following the front northward from Gaza leads through Lebanon and Syria toward the larger strategic center represented by Iran.

IV. Iran and Hormuz — The Throat of Global Energy

Iran is not merely a regional issue.

The Strait of Hormuz is a critical maritime passage connecting the Persian Gulf with the wider world.

Instability there can affect oil and LNG transportation, shipping, insurance costs, and global energy prices.

This is one of the principal reasons why conflict in the Middle East can quickly become a global economic problem.

V. Yemen and the Red Sea — Another Strategic Chokepoint

To the south lie Yemen and the Bab el-Mandeb Strait.

Bab el-Mandeb connects the Gulf of Aden with the Red Sea, while the Suez Canal lies farther north.

Together with the Strait of Hormuz, these waterways form some of the most important maritime chokepoints in the world.

The Middle East is therefore not simply a region rich in oil.

It is a crossroads connecting Asia, Africa, and Europe.

VI. See One Map

Gaza → Lebanon → Syria → Iran → Hormuz

and

Yemen → Bab el-Mandeb → Red Sea → Suez

Place these two routes on one map, and the structure of the contemporary Middle East becomes clearer.

The wars may have different names, but politics, military power, energy, maritime routes, and the international order are increasingly interconnected.

VII. The Bible365Mission Perspective

Reading the Bible does not mean forcing every international event into a predetermined prophetic timetable.

It means discerning the times without consuming war as spectacle,

refusing to idolize nations or peoples,

seeing those who suffer,

and seeking the way of peace.

We should be especially careful when interpreting events occurring in the lands of the Bible.

Beyond the news, see the structure.

Beyond the structure, see the human person.

Beyond the human person, examine ourselves before the Word of God.

The Middle East is no longer merely a place of several separate wars.

It is increasingly becoming one connected front.

And within that structure, the Church must continue to ask:

“How shall we live as peacemakers in our time?”
